THEOLOGICAL VIEWS ON FAMILY AND SOCIETY: CIVILIZATIONAL IMPACTS OF RELIGIOUS TEACHINGS
Keywords:

Religious teachings have historically shaped societal structures and family dynamics across civilizations. This paper explores the theological foundations of family life in major world religions, with a particular focus on Abrahamic traditions and their influence on civilizational norms, gender roles, and social responsibilities. It critically evaluates how religious doctrines have contributed to social cohesion, legal systems, and moral education, as well as their role in perpetuating patriarchy and resistance to modern reforms. Using a comparative theological and sociological framework, this study reveals the dual role of religious teachings—as agents of both stability and constraint—in the evolution of societies. Emphasis is also placed on how contemporary reinterpretations of theology aim to reconcile traditional family values with modern social realities.
