THE IMPACT OF THEOLOGY ON EDUCATION AND CIVILIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Theology has historically played a pivotal role in shaping educational structures and civilizational paradigms across diverse cultures. From the classical Islamic madrasa systems to Christian monastic schools and Hindu gurukuls, theological worldviews have underpinned curriculum design, ethical frameworks, and societal advancement. This paper explores the interplay between theology, education, and civilization, emphasizing how theological doctrines have influenced the philosophy of education, promoted literacy, preserved intellectual heritage, and contributed to the development of moral societies. Drawing from Abrahamic and Eastern religious traditions, and focusing particularly on Islamic civilization, this study highlights the enduring significance of theology in the civilizational process. The article concludes by examining the implications of secularization and the resurgence of faith-based education in the 21st century.
